Republicans Defecting to Kerry's Camp
It seems like a no brainer to me. In 2000, Bush totally squeaks by in the closest election in history, and arguably lost it outright. He is helped by a third party candidate who siphons votes from his opponent in key states.
This time he has no third party candidate and he has no record to run on.
Is it conceivable that democrats will vote for Bush?
Is it conceivable that anyone that voted for Gore will vote for Bush?
Is it conceivable that anyone that voted for Gore will not turn out to vote this time?
I don't see how Bush wins. Especially with unprecedented voter registration and GOTV efforts in Florida and Ohio.
I feel confident, but that may be residual from a week of all-Democrats, all the time.

The Beast Is BackThis looks like its right up my alley. For those of my friends who are veterans of Midnight Madness, we should do this as a warm-up.

Al Sharpton Says 'Our Vote Not for Sale'
Guardian Unlimited | World Latest | Al Sharpton Says 'Our Vote Not for Sale'
I was a steadfast Al Sharpton supporter during the Democratic Primary. I donated hundreds of dollars, stuffed hundreds of envelopes, made phone calls, and even slapped a Sharpton sticker on my car. I'm an admitted sucker for a great speaker, for superficial machisimo, for fire-in-the-belly preaching, and for the kind of leaders the other side FEARS, rather than bemoans. Al Sharpton excited me on all these levels even before the race for the nomination.
I saw the primary run as a run for an 8pm slot at the convention, and obviously we won that. But along the way I learned a lot about Al. Most depressingly I learned that Sharpton wasn't such a great leader. That he passed on several grassroots events and opportunities in exchange for high-profile power-brokering and media exposure. That he was handled by several inexperienced staff and then by several republicans.
I apologized for Al over and over again then finally gave up apologizing and just moved on to Wesley Clark, but by then it was all over anyways.
After last night, watching Al take full advantage of his victory, I have to admit, I was proud to have been a part of it. He gave a hell of a speech, and I'm sure it isn't the last we will hear from him.
I hope he's got the sense to learn from his mistakes. If he does, he will do much much more. If not, it was a nice ride anyway.

My Plea to John Kerry: Stand Up for the Progressive Agenda that the Majority of America Already Agrees With
My Plea to John Kerry: Stand Up for the Progressive Agenda that the Majority of America Already Agrees With
I just read this transcript of a speech that michael moore gave last night in massachusets. Mike is getting hammered right now from the right wing. They are freaking out, big time. And now I understand why.
Even Dale Ernhardt Jr. is telling people to go watch the movie. That is bad bad news for Bush.
I can't imagine how fucked the world will be if Bush wins, but I hope that one of the good things that will come from the Right wing losing power will be that Fox News and all their ineloquent and boorish cronies will disappear from public discourse. Bill Oreilly and Sean Hannity are constantly railing against Moore and Sharpton and anyone who doesnt treat Bush with kid gloves. That's real fear. And its well deserved.
